What mediation taught me about people (not that kind of mediation)
Fourteen years reconciling billing records at Sprint taught me to check what I know before assigning blame.

Sprint's D3884 finished early and under budget with no customer service impact. Folks, that last part takes work, even when there's nothing exciting to report.
You see "no customer impact" at the end of a project, and there's nothing exciting to report. That's what we wanted, though a fair amount had to happen for you to notice nothing.
Project D3884 at Sprint[1]Ref. 1Sprint en.wikipedia.org finished ahead of an aggressive schedule and under budget, without customer service impact. I coordinated the network and finance people along with operations. Sprint's Chief Network Officer commended the result. The customer had absolutely no reason to give a shit.
A process[2]Ref. 2process en.wikipedia.org being alive is good to know. So is nobody complaining, although they may just not have complained yet. I still want to know how we're establishing "no customer impact" and who has the evidence. Preferably before somebody points at the damned completion date and says we're done.
